This Month's Minecraft Shenanigans (December 2014)

Hello, fellow Minecrafters and USOOG'ers, and welcome to this month's edition of Minecraft Shenanigans. This is the last edition of the series for 2014, and over the months, The Swedish Tower and I have been exploring worlds both in vanilla and modded Minecraft, and have experimented with different mod packs.

The latest mod pack we tried out is SkyFactory, where the idea is that basically, you start out with only an oak tree and a dirt block on which the tree is standing on. You collect the oak wood to craft into planks, and then use the planks to create a platform around the dirt block. To get more dirt, you craft a barrel and place excess saplings into the barrel; the saplings then compost into dirt blocks, which can be used at first to grow more trees. After that, you just carry on from there. Coming to think of it, SkyFactory 2 is available tomorrow, so we will be starting again from scratch after making some decent progress with the first SkyFactory.

I have been trying my hand at creating structures in single player creative on vanilla Minecraft lately, primarily to get some ideas on how I would like my island village or other village creations to look in the near future. I realised that no further progress was made on the island village I had been working on, so I have been thinking over whether to continue developing the village, or to begin a new one from scratch.

On a final note of the year, on Mineplex, I somehow managed to get a new pet sheep, either as a loot item or from a chest. I was so happy to have got a new friend that I (almost) immediately gave it a new nickname, which you can tell what the nickname is in the picture below...

That's all for now, I hope you all have had a great Christmas, and have a happy new year!
